However, there are a few things you can do on your own if you are too embarrassed to seek professional help for hemorrhoid relief which will at least ease the discomfort. First, you need to identify the main cause of your hemorrhoids. The most common cause is due to constipation. There are some very easy solutions that will surely offer you some hemorrhoid relief.
- To prevent hemorrhoid flare ups, you should make certain to include a high fiber intake as part of your diet. If eating fiber doesn’t appeal to you for whatever reasons you may want to try a fiber supplement such as Psyllium capsules. Regardless of your choice you should be sure to drink lots of water in addition to increasing your fiber intake. This will loosen the stool and make it easier to pass without putting strain on the hemorrhoid.
- For no reason should you refrain from using the restroom when needed. If you feel a bowel movement is necessary, avoid holding it in. You will only make it more difficult to pass once you can no longer contain it. This creates a constipated effect and puts severe strain on the hemorrhoid and quite possibly make it worse.
- Always keep the area clean. After each bowel movement clean the entire rectal area with warm water and dry completely.
- For recurring constipation you may want to take stool softeners. This should be done along with the other methods already mentioned. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or take the stool softener for longer than noted on the warning.
- As a last resort you can purchase a doughnut-shaped cushion as temporary hemorrhoid relief. The cushion eases pressure put directly on the anus from sitting long hours.
Finding relief from your hemorrhoids is as simple as changing a few small things about your eating habits and how you use the restroom. In time you may actually need to consult a physician if your condition worsens. From there your physician will decide what the best course of action to take is to give you hemorrhoid relief and improve your quality of life.
